What “Consent” Means
Consent should be explicit, informed, and recorded. The person must understand how their voice will be used, stored, and for how long. They can withdraw consent later.
How to Capture Consent
- Written form signed by the person (digital signature acceptable).
- Audio statement before the recording session (“I consent to…”).
- Video clip where they read a short consent script.
Minimum Details to Record
- Identity and contact details of the person giving consent.
- Purpose: e.g., “family memory preservation for private use.”
- What data: voice samples; optional images and text.
- Retention: how long you’ll store the data; how to request deletion/export.
- Access: who can listen/interact (e.g., family members only).
Special Cases
- Minors: Obtain parental/guardian consent.
- Deceased: Follow local law; use family/estate authorization and treat it respectfully.
